The 96 Rangers improved to a league best 6-0 with a 9-0 win over Team Dynamic on Sunday morning. The Rangers were up 1-0 in the first period after a goal by Matt Smith. In the second period, the Rangers had goals from Danny O'Brien, Eamonn Mannion, and Aaron Clancy. In the third period, the Rangers exploded scoring 5 goals from Pat Colpoys, Shawn Kane, Adam Foley (2) and another tally from Danny O'Brien. Toby Sandblom recorded his second straight shutout (third for the season) and the entire Ranger team greatly limited Team Dynamic's scoring opportunities.

Coach Quirk commended his players after the game but cautioned them to continue to work hard at practices and to keep working as a team, as each game presents it own unique challenges. The Rangers will be on the road twice this weekend with games against the Bridgewater Bandits and NECDL (B). Tickets are still available for all Ranger home and away games.

September 17-19, 2010

The 96 Rangers continued their fast start, winning all three games this weekend.

On Friday night, the Rangers faced off once again against the Bay State Breakers, winning convincingly 5-1. The Rangers received goals from Shawn Kane, Adam Foley, Aaron Clancy, Eamonn Mannion and Max Kent, while Danny O'Brien, Gerard Colpoys, Pat Colpoys, DJ Goldstein, Robbie Cameron, Foley, and Clancy each tallied assists.

On Saturday night, the Rangers traveled to Providence College to play the Capitals. Unlike the week before, this game was a battle from the start. The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Matt Smith and Aaron Clancy. In the second period, the Capitals scored a power play goal to pull within one. With 2:21 left in the second period, DJ Goldstein stole the puck at the blue line and streaked in on the left wing on a 2-on-1. Faking a pass, Goldstein slapped a shot past the Capital goalie, making the score 3-1. In the last minute of the second period, the Capitals scored to make it 3-2. The game stayed that way until 4:00 minutes to play in the game when the Rangers were assessed 2 minor penalties. In the 3 minute man-down situation, the Ranger defense, lead by Ryder Parkhurst, Gerard Colpoys, Dan O'Brien, Robbie Cameron and Dan Erbe, along with goalie Toby Sandblom, withstood the onslaught by the Capitals. The Rangers escaped with a 3-2 victory.

Finally on Sunday morning, the 96 Rangers defeated the NECDL (W) 5-0 at Mark Bavis Arena. The Rangers exploded for 3 quick first period goals and never looked back. Kane, Foley, Smith, Mannion, and Austin O'Malley all scored for the Rangers. Andrew Elliott and Dan O'Brien were plus 5 on the day on defense and Toby Sandblom recorded his second shutout of the season.

September 11-12, 2010

After winning the EHF 96 Bantam Minor Championship last March, the 96 Rangers didn't skip a beat winning their first two games this weekend versus two very tough opponents. The Rangers defeated cross-town rivals Bay State Breaters 4-3 on Saturday and followed that win up with a win over the Providence Capitals on Sunday morning by the score of 6-0.

In the victories, 7 different Rangers scored. The goal scorers were Gerard Colpoys, Shawn Kane, Daniel Erbe, Patrick Colpoys, Eamonn Mannion, Austin O'Malley, and Adam Foley. Coach Quirk praised the team after Sunday's victory for two solid victories, but cautioned them that each game will be a struggle with teams gunning for the previous season's champion.

The 96 Rangers will have little rest this weekend with three games against the Breakers, the Capitals and NECDL.
